Availability and the observation of expiring deadlines during the holiday period

Our office is closed from 22 December 2017 up to and including 7 January 2018. We open again on 8 January when we can be reached during our usual opening times.

We have been unable to make payments for a number of the 20,702 applications for compensation of assets received by the General Settlement Fund for Victims of National Socialism. The vast majority of the claims dealt with in these applications lapse under the Statute of Limitations on 31 December 2017. Further information about the pending expiration of the Statute of Limitations time period can be found here.

If you think you might be entitled to a payment, we kindly request you to contact us as soon as possible.

In order to receive a payment it is necessary to sign a form: if an advance payment has already been made the only form that needs to be signed is a proof of identity; if no payment has yet been made for an application, it is necessary to sign a waiver. You will have received the relevant forms in the information package regarding the closing payments.

Due to the imminent expiration of the Statute of Limitations time period the form will be accepted by e-mail () if received by 31 December 2017. Please also send the hard copy of the form to us by mail – from 8 January we will, of course, respond to each mail personally.
