Nominations for the Simon Wiesenthal Prize 2024

We are pleased to announce the nominees for the 2024 award:

The following entries have been nominated by the jury for the Main Prize for Civic Engagement to Combat Antisemitism and Educate the Public about the Holocaust (listed in alphabetical order):

  • CHRISTEN AN DER SEITE ISRAELS (Austria)
  • GAMARAAL FOUNDATION (Switzerland)
  • KAROLINE PREISLER (Germany)
  • SABE ANTISEMITISM WORKPLACE (Austria)

The following entries have been nominated by the jury for the Prize for Civic Engagement to Combat Antisemitism (listed in alphabetical order):

  • COMMUNITY SECURITY TRUST (Great Britain)
  • DINA PORAT (Israel)
  • MOHAMMED OMAR (Italy)

The following applications have been nominated by the jury for the Prize for Civic Engagement to Educate the Public about the Holocaust (listed in alphabetical order):

  • GHETTO FIGHTERS‘ HOUSE (Israel)
  • RE.F.U.G.I.U.S. (Austria)
  • ZENTRUM FÜR ERINNERUNG DUISBURG (Germany)

The jury was particularly keen to pay tribute to the contemporary witnesses nominated for the award. By talking about their experiences, these survivors provide the most compelling and valuable testimonies of all in the efforts to come to terms with the Holocaust and take a stand against antisemitism. Their work and dedication should and must be an example to us all.

The following contemporary witnesses will receive special recognition and be honoured at the event:

  • ERICH FINSCHES (Austria)
  • DON JAFFÉ (Germany)
  • FELIX LEE (Austria)
  • LUDWIG POPPER (Austria)
  • JOSEF SALOMONOVIC (Austria)
  • KITTY SCHROTT (Austria)
  • ADOLF SILBERSTEIN (Austria)
  • STANISLAW ZALEWSKI (Poland)

The Board of Trustees of the National Fund chose the winners of the Simon Wiesenthal Prize from the jury shortlist on 15 October 2024. One winner will be announced in each of the three categories.

The winners will be announced in a ceremony held at the Parliament in Autumn 2025.

Update from 12 June 2025: The date for the award ceremony of the Simon Wiesenthal Prize announced for mid-March 2025 has been postponed to 18 September 2025.
