Description

Yad Vashem (Hand of God) is the central Israeli Holocaust memorial and research site. In addition to a huge archive and a museum, the center has an impressive memorial for victims of the Nazi genocide. Yad Vashem is visited annually by over 2 million visitors from throughout the world. 25,000 to 30,000 use the archive. The archive collects and catalogues Holocaust documents from almost every country on Earth. At the time of the funding application, there were around 60,000 uncatalogued documents from Austrian archives in the archive as well as photos, diaries and other exponents concerning Austria which people from around the world sent Yad Vashem.

Yad Vashem (Hand Gottes) ist die zentrale israelische Holocaust-Gedenk- und Forschungsstätte. Neben einem riesigen Archiv und Museum verfügt das Zentrum über eine eindrucksvolle Gedenkstätte für die Opfer des Völkermords der Nazizeit. Yad Vashem wird jährlich von mehr als zwei Millionen Besuchern aus der ganzen Welt besucht. 25.000 bis 30.000 Menschen nützen das Archiv. Das Archiv sammelt und katalogisiert Holocaustdokumente aus fast allen Ländern der Erde. Im Archiv liegen 60.000 noch nicht katalogisierte Dokumente aus österreichischen Archiven sowie Photos, Tagebücher und andere Exponate Österreich betreffend, die von Menschen aus der ganzen Welt nach Yad Vashem geschickt werden.
