Born in 1928 in Baden near Vienna, Karl Pfeifer grew up in a Jewish family. In 1938 he fled with his parents to Hungary. At the age of 14 he managed to flee to Palestine where, after being trained in a kibbutz, he fought in the War of Independence . In 1951 he returned to Europe, working as a journalist in Vienna from 1979, where he writes for publications such as the Viennese Illustrierte Neue Welt, and the Berlin weeklies Jüdische Allgemeine and Jungle World. Karl Pfeifer is also available as an eyewitness and for reading tours.

1928 in Baden bei Wien geboren, wächst Karl Pfeifer als Sohn einer jüdischen Familie auf. 1938 flieht er mit seinen Eltern nach Ungarn. Mit 14 gelingt ihm die Auswanderung nach Palästina, wo er nach einer Ausbildung im Kibbuz im israelischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg kämpft. 1951 kehrt er nach Europa zurück, arbeitet seit 1979 als Journalist in Wien, schreibt u.a. für die Wiener Illustrierte Neue Welt und die Berliner Wochenblätter Jüdische Allgemeine und Jungle World. Karl Pfeifer steht als Zeitzeuge und für Lesereisen zur Verfügung.
