Project

Description

The project is planning to erect a memorial to the 65,000 Austrian victims of the Shoah on the site of the former Aspang station, which will be accessible to all. In all, 49,000 Austrians were deported to their deaths from Aspang Station and have no graves marking their demise. The Proponent Committee is supporting this project and the work carried out by Mr. Tutter to date. The memorial will contain the names of all of these murdered Jews and will me made of polished grante plaques, 1 meter wide and 2 meters high, erected to form long parallel walls. The engraving on the names of the dead acts as a substitute for a grave and plays an important role in the Jewish religion.
