Description

The subjects “National Socialist looted art” in the former “Ostmark” and “Restitution” after 1945 in Vienna and in the provinces and consequently the field of “provenance research” have become very relevant in recent years due to the US class action suits. The volume offers the first broad overview of this subject and therefore also an overview using scientific analyses of experts from Austria and abroad. The various subject areas deal with the aspects “aryanization”, “looted art” and “restitution” as well as the perspectives of the victims and perpetrators.
