In recent years, intense public discussion on gay and lesbian (self) images has taken place in practically all large cities in Europe. This is most conspicuously documented in a series of representative exhibitions and accompanying academic investigation of the situation of gays and lesbians under changing political and social circumstances in the 20th century. The National Fund was requested to assume the cost for the part of the exhibition dealing with the Nazi era.

In den letzten Jahren hat in praktisch allen europäischen Großstädten eine intensive öffentliche Auseinandersetzung mit schwulen und lesbischen (Selbst)Bildern eingesetzt. Dies dokumentiert sich am augenfälligsten in einer Reihe repräsentativer Ausstellungen und einer damit einhergehenden wissenschaftlichen Aufarbeitung der Situation von Lesben und Schwulen unter den wechselnden politischen und gesellschaftlichen Rahmenbedingungen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Der Nationalfonds wird ersucht die Kosten der Ausstellung für den Zeitabschnitt der nationalsozialistischen Herrschaft in Österreich zu übernehmen.
