Project

Description

The satellite camp of Gusen, including its camps Gusen I, II and III was the largest satellite camp of the Mauthausen concentration camp. The atrocities which occurred there are beyond doubt. Apart from the concentration camp memorial which was constructed around the former crematory, not much remains. The culture of remembrance in Gusen was to be intensified. The renovation of the memorial and the redesign of the forecourt were to be finished in time for the liberation ceremony on 4 May 2002.
