Series of events - Persecution of homosexuals under National Socialism

After male homosexuality had been decriminalized in 1971 and the subsequent possibility to establish associations (from 1979), the public was confronted with the phenomenon of the suppressed persecution of homosexuals under the National Socialist regime. In addition to the academic and journalistic work dealing with the subject, it is predominantly the artistic work of gay and lesbian artists in all areas, from film and music to performing and fine arts which prevent the subject being relegated to a dark corner of the past.

Nach der Entkriminalisierung der männlichen Homosexualität 1971 und der dadurch möglichen Gründung von Vereinen (ab 1979) wurde die Öffentlichkeit mit dem Phänomen der verdrängten Verfolgung von Homosexuellen unter dem Nazi-Regime konfrontiert. Neben der wissenschaftlichen und publizistischen Aufarbeitung des Themas sind es vor allem künstlerische Beiträge von lesbisch-schwulen KünstlerInnen in allen Bereichen, von Film, Musik bis über die darstellende und bildende Kunst, die dieses Thema nicht in einem dunklen Eck der Vergangenheit verschwinden lassen wollen.
