Friedrich Propst was born as Fritz (aka Friedrich) in Vienna on 6 February 1916. At the tender age of eleven he became involved with the Red Falcons and became one of the founding members of the Favoriten Communist Alliance. At the beginning of World War II he emigrated to England, where he founded the youth organization “Young Austria”. The organization aimed to mobilize young refugees from Austria against the Nazi dictatorship. Many of them, like Friedrich Probst, reported to the British Army and returned to Austria as liberators.

Friedrich Propst wurde am 6.2.1916 als Fritz (eigentlich Friedrich) Propst in Wien geboren. Schon mit elf Jahren engagierte er sich bei den Roten Falken und wurde dann zu einem der Gründungsmitglieder des KJV Favoriten (Kommunistischer Jugend Verband). Zu Beginn des 2. Weltkrieges emigrierte er nach England, wo er die Jungendorganisation „Young Austria“ gründete. Die Organisation hatte das Ziel jugendliche Flüchtlinge aus Österreich gegen die Nazi Diktatur zu mobilisieren. Viele von ihnen, wie auch Fritz Propst meldeten sich zur britischen Armee und kamen so als Befreier zurück nach Österreich.
