Description
The Jewish Institute for Adult Education strives to bring non-Jewish and Jewish Austrians together. An important and central task of the institute is to recall the Yiddish language which was almost lost as a result of the genocide on Jews and to remember the suppressed and destroyed culture of Yiddish theater and the exiled Jewish artists. This year the Institute planned to put on a Yiddish theater guest performance: the troop “Yiddish Theater of the Saidys Bronfman Center” from Montreal was invited to Vienna.

Das Jüdische Institut für Erwachsenenbildung versucht nichtjüdische und jüdische ÖsterreicherInnen und NichtösterreicherInnen näher zu bringen. Eine wichtige und zentrale Aufgabe des Instituts besteht darin, die jiddische Sprache, die durch den Völkermord an Juden fast verlorengegangen ist, wieder in Erinnerung zu rufen, um der verdrängten, vernichteten Kultur des Jiddischen Theaters und der vertriebenen jüdischen Künstler zu gedenken. Das Institut plant heuer die Durchführung eines Jiddischen Theatergastspiels: die Truppe 'Yiddisch Theater of the Saidys Bronfman Centres' aus Montreal ist nach Wien eingeladen.
