Description
On 12 April 1945, Josef Muzak was arrested by an SS shock troop in Laab am Walde, deported and has been missing ever since. He was presumably murdered. In 1947, he was declared dead by a court. Josef Muzak was the co-founder and key member of the “Austrian Freedom Movement”. There is no grave and no memorial to commemorate him. His daughter Vera Esther Frömel now wants to erect a memorial plaque at the place where he carried out this role (1070 Vienna, Neustiftgasse 92). As not all owners of the building agreed to the erection of the plaque on the front of the building, the plaque will be placed directly in from of it on public property.

Am 12.4.1945 wurde Josef Muzak von einem SS-Stoßtrupp in Laab am Walde verhaftet, verschleppt und gilt seitdem als vermisst. Vermutlich wurde er ermordet. 1947 wurde er gerichtlich für tot erklärt. Josef Muzak war sowohl Mitbegründer, als auch ein führendes Mitglied der 'Österreichischen Freiheitsbewegung'. Es gibt weder ein Grab, noch eine Stätte, die an ihn erinnert. Seine Tochter Vera Esther Frömel will nun eine Gedenktafel an der Stätte seines Wirkens (1070 Wien, Neustiftg. 92) anbringen lassen. Da nicht alle Hauseigentümer mit der Anbringung der Tafel an der Hausfassade einverstanden waren, wird die Gedenktafel unmittelbar vor der Fassade auf öffentlichem Gut aufgestellt.
