Description
The album "AZ" consists of 47 color drawings by the painter Leo Haas and was created in 1942 in the Theresienstadt ghetto. The main subject of the album is the establishment of the labor office and the difficulties involved in its work. Over time, the labor office served to create an organized apparatus for deploying workforces. The album is a documentation of daily life and, at the same time, reproduces the horrific reality in the Theresienstadt ghetto. Apart from the internal exhibition of “Beit Theresienstadt” in Israel “AZ” in unknown. For this reason, a multilingual catalogue (English, Hebrew, German) with the pictures and related articles is to be published.

Das Album 'AZ' besteht aus 47 Farbzeichnungen des Malers Leo Haas und ist 1942 im Ghetto Theresienstadt entstanden. Hauptthema des Albums ist die Einrichtung der Arbeitszentrale und deren Schwierigkeiten, die ihre Tätigkeit begleiteten. Die Arbeitszentrale diente im Laufe der Zeit zur Schaffung eines organisierten Apparates für den Einsatz der Arbeitskräfte. Das Album ist sowohl ein Dokument über den Alltag, als auch die Wiedergabe der schrecklichen Realität im Ghetto Theresienstadt. Außer in der internen Ausstellung von 'Beit Theresienstadt' in Israel ist 'AZ' nicht bekannt. Aus diesem Grund soll jetzt ein mehrsprachiger Katalog (Englisch, Hebräisch, Deutsch) mit den Bildern und den entsprechenden Artikeln herausgegeben werden.
