The Institute held four events on the subject of “Persecution, expulsion and (no) new beginning: Jewish fates in Lower Austria within the scope of the Year of Remembrance 2005” in the former synagogue in St. Pölten: Dr. Eleonore Lappin: Hungarian Jewish slave laborers in Lower Austria (1944/45), Dr. Martha Keil: Emigration, deportation, return home. Lena Rosenstein read recollections of survivors; Dr. Christoph Lind: St. Pölten and its Jews 1945-1955; return to a foreign hometown. Eleonore Lappin in conversation with surviving eyewitnesses.
