Drahomír Bárta’s diary – from November 1943 until the liberation of the camp on 6 May 1945 – is an extraordinary document. After his arrest and deportation, Bárta, a member of a Czech resistance movement was appointed as camp writer in the Ebensee concentration camp; in this way he became the chronicler of daily life in the camp. At the same time, he was a leading member of the growing resistance movement among the prisoners. Bárta’s work provides detailed and vivid information on their activities and the resistance of the prisoners in the years 1944–1945.

Drahomír Bártas Tagebuch - vom November 1943 bis zur Befreiung des Lagers am 6. Mai 1945 - ist ein außergewöhnliches Dokument. Bárta, Mitglied einer tschechischen Widerstandsbewegung, wurde nach seiner Verhaftung und Deportation als Lagerschreiber im KZ-Ebensee eingesetzt; auf diese Weise konnte er als Chronist des Lageralltags tätig werden. Gleichzeitig war er ein führendes Mitglied der sich bildenden Widerstandsbewegung der Häftlinge. Über deren Aktivitäten und den Widerstand der Inhaftierten in den Jahren 1944-45 gibt Bártas Werk ausführlich und anschaulich Auskunft.
