The main aim of this project was to ask how the history of National Socialism was dealt with by the provinces after the war – in schools, in the community etc. How much remembrance work has been carried out? What form did it take? How is the culture of remembrance? How do people remember? What effect does a memorial have? etc. A further aim was to maintain a culture of remembrance in schools in the provinces and to make people aware of their responsibility for history.

Hauptzweck dieses Projektes soll es sein zu fragen, wie mit der Geschichte des Nationalsozialismus nach dem Krieg regional umgegangen wurde - in den Schulen, in der Gemeinde etc. Was ist an Erinnerungsarbeit geschehen? Welche Art von Erinnerungsarbeit wurde geleistet? Wie steht es mit der Gedenkkultur? Wie erinnern die Menschen? Was bewirkt ein Denkmal im Ort? etc. Ein weiteres Ziel ist es, auf regionaler Ebene vor allem durch den Vermittlungsbereich Schule Erinnerungskultur zu pflegen und Verantwortung für die Geschichte bewusst zu machen.
