Description

Marianne Lieberman was born the daughter of a respected doctor in Josefstadt in Vienna. In 1939, as a “1st grade half caste” she fled to Maribor, Yugoslavia with her mother. An odyssey followed which led to their emigration to the USA. Her gift of drawing, this talent which no one could take from her, became her mentor. Throughout her life it showed her how to come to terms with her experiences. The autobiography of a “half Jew” describes the horror of the Nazi era and her emancipation from the constraints of a middle class Old Austrian family.
