Servitengasse in the 9th District of Vienna lies in the middle of a formerly mixed Jewish quarter. After the National Socialist assumption of power in March 1938 people were evicted throughout Vienna, by the end of 1942 most tenanted apartment buildings were “free of Jews”. The project attempted to investigate the remembrance landscape of a well-known Viennese street in which a particularly large number of victims of National Socialism had resided. It was especially important to document the surviving eyewitnesses who had been invited to Vienna especially for this project to describe their fates.

Die Servitengasse im 9. Wiener Gemeindebezirk liegt inmitten eines ehemals gemischt-jüdischen Viertels. Nach der Machtübernahme der Nationalsozialisten im März 1938 kam es in ganz Wien zu Delogierungen, Ende 1942 galten die meisten Mietshäuser in Wien als 'judenrein'. Das Projekt versucht, die Erinnerungslandschaft einer bekannten Wiener Straße, in der besonders viele Opfer des Nationalsozialismus zu verzeichnen waren, zu erkunden. Dieses Vorhaben gilt es filmisch zu begleiten und zu dokumentieren. Ein besonders Anliegen ist die Dokumentation der noch lebenden Zeitzeugen, die für dieses Projekt extra nach Wien eingeladen werden und über ihr Schicksal berichten.
