The history teachers at the independent Waldorf School in Innsbruck wanted to bring the students closer to the subjects of Jewish persecution and National Socialism through practical work. After an intensive preparatory phase at the beginning of the academic year, between 26 and 30 November 1999 the students travelled to the Young People’s Centre Buchenwald. The work primarily consisted of freeing up the grounds and restoration and upkeep work. The program was developed with the memorial site and people carrying out memorial service from Austria.

Der Geschichtslehrer der freien Waldorfschule Innsbruck möchte an praktischer Arbeit die Themen Judenverfolgung und Nationalsozialismus den Jugendlichen näher bringen. Nach einer intensiven Vorbereitungsphase zu Beginn des Schuljahres werden die Schüler vom 26. - 30. 11.1999 in die Jugendbegegnungsstätte Buchenwald reisen. Die Hauptarbeit besteht in Geländefreilegung und Pflege- und Erhaltungsarbeiten. Das Programm wurde mit der Gedenkstätte und dem dort tätigen Gedenkdiener aus Österreich erarbeitet.
