As every year, on Sunday 7 May 2006, an international remembrance ceremony took place at the former Mauthausen concentration camp. This year the motto was “Women in Mauthausen”. On Saturday 8 April 2006, a ceremony was held in the former Stein Institution in memory of the victims of the bloodbath of 6 April 1945 by the SS. After the withdrawal of the SS, the inmates of the institution were released on 6 April 1945. As a result of an act of treachery, the SS returned and caused a bloodbath, shooting into the crowd and killing 386 people.

Wie jedes Jahr findet am Sonntag, den 7. Mai 2006 im ehemaligen KZ Mauthausen eine internationale Gedenkfeier statt; heuer unter dem Thema: 'Frauen in Mauthausen'. Am Samstag, den 8. April 2006 findet in der ehemaligen Anstalt Stein zum Gedenken der Opfer des Blutbades vom 6. April 1945 durch die SS eine Gedenkfeier statt. Nach dem Abzug der SS wurden die Häftlinge der Anstalt am 6. April 1945 freigelassen. Durch Verrat kehrte die SS zurück und richtete durch Hineinschießen in die Menschenmenge ein Blutbad an, bei dem 386 Menschen erschossen wurden.
