Mrs. Behn Thiele is a psychotherapist from Chile who has lived in Vienna for many years and cares for survivors and their relatives in the Maimonides Center. She carried out this study in Chile over two months and established that mourning for the old homeland and the feeling of abandonment is particularly marked there. A psychotherapeutic documentation on the effects of long tem exile, the long term effects of extreme traumatisation and the phenomenon of de-culturation and integration into the “new homeland”, was then produced.

Frau Behn Thiele ist eine aus Chile stammende Psychotherapeutin, die seit vielen Jahren in Wien lebt und im Maimoniden Zentrum Überlebende und ihre Angehörigen betreut. Sie hat nun 2 Monate lang diese Arbeit in Chile in einem Altersheim gemacht und festgestellt, dass besonders dort die Trauer um die alte Heimat und das Gefühl des Verlassenseins ganz besonders ausgeprägt ist. Nun soll eine psychotherapeutische Dokumentation über Wirkungen des Langzeitexils, der Langzeitfolgen extremer Traumatisierung und das Phänomen der Entkulturation und der Integration in die 'neue Heimat' erstellt werden.
