In 1999, the paintings of Adolf Frankl were exhibited in the columned hall on the Day of Remembrance for Victims of National Socialism. As an Auschwitz survivor, Frankl painted his terrible experiences in the concentration camps in order to process his suffering and create an artistic legacy for posterity. The exhibition, which was under the auspices of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, served as an informative and commemorative exhibition on the Holocaust. The exhibition took place in the “Great Jubilee 2000 at the Vatican” in Rome.

Die Bilder von Adolf Frankl wurden dieses Jahr am Gedenktag für Opfer des Nationalsozialismus in der Säulenhalle ausgestellt. Als einer der Überlebenden von Auschwitz malte Frankl die schrecklichen Erlebnisse in den Konzentrationslagern, um auf diese Art das Erlittene zu verarbeiten und ein künstlerisches Zeitzeugnis für die Nachwelt zu schaffen. Die Ausstellung, die unter der Schirmherrschaft des UN-Hochkommissars für Menschenrechte steht, soll als Informations- und Mahnausstellung zum Thema Holocaust dienen. Die Ausstellung soll im 'großen Jubiläumsjahr 2000 im Vatikan' in Rom stattfinden.
