Project

Description

The aim of the project was to arrange a regular monthly meeting of Centropa’s elderly Jewish citizens – Austrian Holocaust survivors, most of whom were interviewed for Centropa’s oral history project “Jewish witnesses of a European century. Like so many elderly people in the world, these elderly Jews also need company. In contrast to people in other places, these Viennese Jews have relatively few opportunities to meet and they are the last of their peers, the last Austrian Jews who remember what it was like growing up in Vienna when the Jewish population of the city was 175,000.
