Walter Abish is a writer with Austrian origins and, being Jewish, a victim of National Socialism. He had to flee in 1938 but was able to become well established in his new country. He describes himself as an American author with Austrian roots. A legacy that he carries with him. The Literature House has dedicated a conference publication to him: a book with texts by him and about him and subjects concerning him, to honor him, as a former victim of National Socialism, as a survivor and as a person, who remained strong despite persecution and humiliation.

Walter Abish ist ein aus Österreich stammender Schriftsteller und als Jude Opfer des Nationalsozialismus. Er musste 1938 fliehen, konnte sich jedoch in seiner neuen Heimat gut etablieren. Er bezeichnet sich selbst als einen amerikanischen Autor mit österreichischen Wurzeln. Ein Erbe, das er in sich trägt. Das Literaturhaus hat ihm einen Tagungsband gewidmet. Ein Buch mit Texten von ihm und über ihn und ihn betreffende Themen, um ihn zu ehren, ihn als ehemaliges Opfer des Nationalsozialismus, als Überlebenden und als eine Person zu würdigen, die sich in Verfolgung und Erniedrigung stark behauptet hat.
