Description
Naftali Fürst is one of the men on the famous Buchenwald photo, taken on 16 April 1945. A meeting with Naftali Fürst already took place in 2005. Now a brochure and teaching material was to be produced. Using the brochures, the students discover the story of the 12-year-old, his life as a child in Bratislava, during the National Socialist regime of terror and in the concentration camps, after 1945 and in Israel. An interactive website, with short sequences from the interviews with Naftali Fürst and supplementary materials with continuously updated and extended teaching units, was also being considered. The concept “teaching the Holocaust = telling a human story” forms the basis for this project.

Naftali Fürst ist einer der Männer auf dem berühmten Buchenwald-Foto, entstanden um den 16. April 1945. Ein Treffen mit Naftali Fürst in Buchenwald fand bereits 2005 statt. Nun soll eine Broschüre und Unterrichtsmaterial mit Fotos entstehen. Anhand der Broschüre sollen die Schüler die Geschichte des auf dem Foto 12-jährigen 'entdecken', seinen Werdegang und sein Leben als Kind in Bratislava, während der NS-Schreckensherrschaft und im KZ, nach 1945 und in Israel heute erarbeiten. Angedacht ist auch eine interaktive Homepage mit kurzen Sequenzen aus den Interviews mit Naftali Fürst sowie Zusatzmaterialien mit laufend sich erweiternden Unterrichtseinheiten. Grundlage ist das pädagogische Konzept 'Teaching the Holocaust = Telling a Human Story'.
