In this volume, with text and pictures, the Jewish Cemetery is at the same time a chronicler and an aesthetic object. The historical, contemporary historical and literary texts, which tell the stories of life and death in Jewish Vienna between 1784 and 1874 from different perspectives, act as a frame to the empathic photos of Daniel Kaldori. These show the cemetery as it changes through the seasons – an allegory of becoming and perishing. A place of remembrance of Jewish life before the Holocaust.

In diesem Text-Bildband ist der jüdische Friedhof in Währing gleichermaßen Chronist wie ästhetisches Objekt. Die historischen, zeitgeschichtlichen und literarischen Texte, Tagebuchauszüge, die von der Herausgeberin gesammelt und kommentiert werden, die aus unterschiedlichen Blickwinkeln von Leben und Tod im jüdischen Wien zwischen 1784 und 1874 erzählen, umrahmen die einfühlsamen Fotos von Daniel Kaldori. Diese zeigen im jahreszeitlichen Rhythmus die Wandlung des Friedhofs - ein Sinnbild für das Werden und Vergehen. Ein Ort des Erinnerns an das jüdische Leben vor dem Holocaust.
