The aim was to maintain and encourage remembrance of National Socialist crimes. During these conferences, information was given on the situation in different countries and a report on the past year was submitted by the President of the International Ravensbrück Committee and the Director of the Ravensbrück Memorial. These conferences are important as decisions are made regarding the priorities and direction taken by memorial site policies. The International Ravensbrück Committee is the only committee where the wishes of survivors are taken into consideration and the direction taken by memorial site policies are discussed on a broad international basis and common concerns can be submitted.

Ziel und Zweck ist die Aufrechterhaltung und Förderung des Gedenkens an die nationalsozialistischen Verbrechen. Während dieser Konferenzen wird über die Situation in den einzelnen Ländern berichtet sowie sowohl von der Präsidentin des Internationalen Komitees Ravensbrück Annette Chalut als auch der Gedenkstättenleiterin ein Bericht über das vergangene Jahr vorgelegt. Diese Tagungen sind insofern von Bedeutung, als hier in Hinblick auf die Ausrichtung und Prioritäten der Gedenkstättenpolitik Entscheidungen getroffen werden. Das Internationale Komitee Ravensbrück ist das einzige Gremium, in dem die Wünsche der Überlebenden und die Ausrichtung der Gedenkstättenpolitik auf breiter internationaler Basis diskutiert und gemeinsame Anliegen vorgebracht werden können.
