Description
Many people also fell victim to the National Socialist dictatorship in the district of Mariahilf. Hundreds of innocent people were deported and murdered on grounds of race, politics, religions and for other reasons of ideology, also of sexual orientation. In order to remember and honor these people, lasting memorials were to be created in Mariahilf, not least with the aim of fighting against similar tendencies in the present and future. A diverse cultural program was to deal with the relevance of historical events for the present and the future. Informative and discursive events were to be held in various district institutions. In particular, young people were to be targeted by means of school and cultural events.

Die nationalsozialistische Diktatur hatte auch im Bezirk Mariahilf viele Opfer gefordert. Hunderte Unschuldige wurden in Mariahilf aus rassistischen, politischen, religiösen und aus sonstigen ideologischen Gründen, auch wegen sexueller Orientierung, deportiert und ermordet. Zum ehrenden Andenken an diese Menschen sollen in Mariahilf bleibende Gedenkobjekte geschaffen werden, nicht zuletzt mit dem Ziel, ähnliche Tendenzen in Gegenwart und Zukunft entgegenzutreten. Ein weit gefächertes Kulturprogramm soll sich mit der Relevanz der historischen Ereignisse für Gegenwart und Zukunft beschäftigen. In verschiedenen Einrichtungen des Bezirks sollen Informations- und Diskussionsveranstaltungen durchgeführt werden. Ganz besonders sollen junge Menschen mittels Schul- und Kulturveranstaltungen angesprochen werden.
