Get together for descendents of Jews formerly of St. Pölten in St. Pölten and Vienna

Treffen der Nachkommen ehemaliger St. Pöltner Jüdinnen in St. Pölten und Wien

 

Following on from the school project “De-registered! The compulsory resettlement of St. Pölten’s Jews in collective apartments in Vienna 1938–42” (Sparkling Science project by the Federal Ministry for Science, Research and the Economy SPA 05/116), the idea arose to invite the relatives of the persecuted families to Vienna and St. Pölten. Over a period of four days the guests would have the opportunity to visit the different places where their families had lived. One aim of the meeting was for the families involved to meet each other and build a network; another was to gain more information for further research – participants were requested to provide any information, photos or documents that they had regarding their families. This information will be published with the consent of the families on the website “juden-in-st-poelten.at”.

Aus dem Forschungs- und Schulprojekt „Abgemeldet! Die Zwangsumsiedlung St. Pöltner Juden und Jüdinnen in Sammelwohnungen in Wien 1938–42“ (Sparkling Science Projekt des BMWFW SPA - 05/116) entstand die Idee, die Angehörigen der betroffenen Familien zu einem Treffen nach Wien und St. Pölten einzuladen. An den vier Tagen sollen die Gäste die Möglichkeit haben, vor Ort den unterschiedlichen Lebensorten ihrer Familien nachzugehen. Dieses Treffen dient einerseits dem gegenseitigen Kennenlernen und der Vernetzung zwischen den Familien, andererseits ersuchen wir die TeilnehmerInnen, uns Informationen, Fotos und Dokumente zu ihren Familien zu überlassen und damit weitere Forschungsgrundlagen zur Verfügung zu stellen. Alle freigegebenen Informationen werden auf der Website „juden-in-st-poelten.at“ öffentlich gemacht.
