Description
The project is dedicated to the memory of the exile Amos Vogel and will consist of evaluation and creating digital records and the presentation of his private library. A period of four years has been earmarked for the project during which the approx. 6,000 volumes of his library will be evaluated, recorded and presented. This will create the opportunity to return the lifework of this great emigrant to Austria and present it to a wider public. By recording the “Amos Vogl Library” a basis will be established for future, more detailed research and, as such, more widespread and in-depth commemoration in terms of his thought processes and working methods, the medium of film, and many related areas of knowledge. In addition the project will reinforce the sustainability of the culture of remembrance and contribute towards making film understood and visible as an art form and an aesthetic intervention into social conditions.

Das vorliegende Projekt ist dem Andenken an den Vertriebenen Amos Vogel gewidmet, das durch Aufarbeitung und digitale Erschließung sowie der Präsentation seiner Privatbibliothek erfolgen soll. Für die Aufarbeitung, Erschließung und Präsentation der rund 6.000 Bände umfassenden Bibliothek ist eine Projektlaufzeit von vier Jahren anberaumt. Damit wird die Möglichkeit geschaffen, das Lebenswerk dieses großen Emigranten wieder nach Österreich zurück und einer breiten Öffentlichkeit näher zu bringen. Die Erfassung der „Amos Vogel Library“ liefert die Grundlage für eine zukünftige weiterführende Forschung und damit auch für eine Erweiterung des Andenkens an Amos Vogel, eine Vertiefung im Hinblick auf seine Denk- und Arbeitsweise, das Medium Film und zahlreiche daran anschließende Wissensgebiete. Darüber hinaus stärkt das Projekt die Nachhaltigkeit von Erinnerungskultur und trägt dazu bei, Film als Kunst und als ästhetische Intervention in soziale Verhältnisse versteh- und erfahrbar zu machen.
