Description
The aim of the planned project in the “Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky Room” is to publicize and pay tribute to the social and political involvement of Margarete Schütte Lihotzky under the title “Resistance and Liberation”. At the same time, the exhibition series on “Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky – Her Traces in Vienna” will be continued. She penned her “Recollections of Resistance” herself. Taking these as a basis and supported by archive research and reference to more recent publications, we are hoping to create the most accurate possible picture of Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky’s activities in the Antifascist resistance – in freedom and captivity. Both the accompanying program and cooperation with other partners create a framework for remembrance on the occasion of her 120th birthday on 23 January 2017.

Ziel des geplanten Projekts im „Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky-Raum“ ist es, unter dem Titel „Widerstand und Befreiung“ die sozial und politisch engagierte Frau Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky bekannt zu machen und zu würdigen. Gleichzeitig wird damit die Ausstellungsserie zu „Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky – Ihre Spuren in Wien“ fortgesetzt. Sie selbst hat ihre „Erinnerungen aus dem Widerstand" aufgeschrieben. Auf dieser Grundlage, gestützt durch Archivrecherchen und Einbeziehung neuerer Publikationen, soll ein möglichst genaues Bild der Aktivitäten von Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky im antifaschistischen Widerstand – in Freiheit und in Gefangenschaft – gezeichnet werden. Sowohl Begleitprogramm als auch Kooperationen setzen anlässlich ihres 120. Geburtstags am 23. Jänner 2017 einen Rahmen zum Gedenken.
