In addition to Georgy’s story, the book also contains many letters and photos that his parents saved, collected and at one point provided to the family of Beate and Serge Klarsfeld. Attention is also drawn to photos and information of the Viennese children. The French edition was published in 1997, followed by the English edition. Maison d’Izieu, the children’s home established by Sabine and Miron Zlatin in Izieu, 80km from Lyon, was home to over 100 Jewish children with various nationalities, whose parents had already been deported by the Nazis. Having been taken into the home at Izieu, the children initially managed to escape anti-Semitic persecution. On the morning of 6 Aril 1944, 44 children – seven of them from Vienna – and their carers, who were also in the home at the time, were arrested and deported on the order of Klaus Barbie, the Head of the Lyon Gestapo.

Das Buch beinhaltet neben der Geschichte über Georgy viele Briefe und Fotos, die seine Eltern aufgehoben, gesammelt und seinerzeit der Familie Beate und Serge Klarsfeld zur Verfügung gestellt haben. Dabei werden auch Fotos und Infos der Wiener Kinder aufgezeigt. Die französische Ausgabe ist – gefolgt von der englischen Übersetzung – 1997 erschienen. Maison d´Izieu, das von Sabine und Miron Zlatin gegründete Kinderheim in Izieu, 80km von Lyon entfernt, beherbergte über einhundert jüdische Kinder verschiedener Nationalitäten, deren Eltern bereits von den Nazis deportiert waren. Die Kinder hatten durch die Aufnahme in Izieu die Chance, der antisemitischen Verfolgung zunächst noch zu entkommen. Am Morgen des 6. April 1944 wurden 44 Kinder – sieben davon aus Wien – und ihre Erzieher, die zu dieser Zeit im Kinderheim waren, auf Befehl von Klaus Barbie, dem Leiter der Lyoner Gestapo, festgenommen und deportiert.
