It is often impossible for people with a serious, chronic or rare illness to be able to afford the excess required without receiving financial assistance. Costs incurred for consultations with specialists are covered proportionally. Assistance is provided for age-related and post-operative complaints and mental and physical infirmity at home, such as nursing, housework, assistance with illness or age-related aids (e.g. orthopedic shoes, medical glasses, false teeth, hearing aids, mechanical zimmer frames, wheelchairs, walkers, electric wheelchairs, adult diapers, underpads, special beds). The surviving ex-Austrian victims of the Nazis in Israel are very elderly, often lonely, sick and needy. Generally, our German-speaking social worker is their only point of contact. Seniors’ gym class, which was introduced in 2005, has become a permanent fixture for the “former Austrian seniors” who still feel fit. The large number of participants demonstrates that this is not only a healthy but also a social and communicative fixture. Great demand for these classes led to seniors’ gym classes in Tel Aviv being increased to two times a week. The Snoezelen therapy is a treatment for patients with dementia, Holocaust survivors and Alzheimer’s patients.

Für Schwerstkranke, chronisch Kranke sowie für Patienten mit besonderem Krankheitsbild ist es oft unmöglich, den geforderten Eigenanteil ohne finanzielle Beihilfe aufzubringen. Konsultationen bei Fachärzten werden kostenanteilig übernommen. Unterstützung wird bei altersbedingten und postoperativen Beschwerden sowie bei psychischer und physischer Hilflosigkeit im Haus durch Pflegebetreuung, Haushaltshilfe, Support für krankheits-oder altersbedingte Hilfsmittel (zum Beispiel orthopädische Schuhe, medizinische Brillen, Zahnprothesen, Hörgeräte, mechanische Gehhilfen, Rollstühle, Gehroller, elektrische Rollstühle, Windeln, Bettunterlagen, Spezialbetten) gewährt. Die in Israel noch lebenden exösterreichischen Naziopfer sind betagt, oftmals einsam, krank und bedürftig. Unsere deutschsprechende Sozialarbeiterin ist zumeist ihre einzige Kontaktperson. Das seit 2005 eingeführte Seniorenturnen ist zu einer festen Einrichtung für die „Ex-Österreichischen Senioren“, die sich noch „fit“ fühlen, geworden. Eine große Teilnehmerzahl spricht für den Erfolg dieser gesunden, aber doch auch sozialkommunikativen Einrichtung. Die große Nachfrage hat dazu geführt, dass das Seniorenturnen in Tel Aviv auf zweimal pro Woche erweitert wurde. Die „Sznuzelen (Snoezelen)-Therapie" ist eine Behandlung für Demenz-Patienten, Holocaust-Überlebende sowie Alzheimer-Patienten.
