16. Zentrales Seminar: “weg-gesperrt“

Project

Description

The 16th seminar in Krems has two related points of focus. The first is Stein prison and the function of prisons as institutions under National Socialism. Furthermore, it addresses the subject of war crimes, taking Lower Austria as an example, in particular on the basis of the massacre of Stein inmates and in nearby Hadersdorf in April 1945. The prison as an institution and its function in society will be placed in a historical context and, in particular, the question as to the specific role of prisons will be addressed. In addition to historical lectures and excursions to the scenes of the war crimes, units will be offered that are suitable for classes and which help transfer the content of the seminar into lessons in schools.
