The painter Soshana is one of the few Austrian artists of the Classical Modern period to play a role in the international art scene. Soshana (1927–2015, in Vienna) was forced to flee Vienna as a victim of the Nazi regime during her early childhood due to her Jewish heritage. She first fled to Switzerland, then to London and finally to the USA. She remained traumatized by her flight her entire life. In the anniversary publication, which commemorates Soshana as a victim of the Nazi regime and is dedicated to her, in addition to the excerpts from her diaries selected scans from original passages from her diary will be offset with with her paperwork, paintings, sketches or photos from the same periods. It was possible to obtain the services of the Director of the Austrian National Library, Dr. Johanna Rachinger, and the art historian Dr. Angelica Bäumer for this publication. The plan is to present the diaries at the Austrian National Library on 13 September 2017.

Die Malerin Soshana ist eine der wenigen österreichischen Künstlerinnen der Klassischen Moderne, die auf dem Parkett des internationalen Kunstbetriebs mitspielt. Soshana (geb. 1927–2015, in Wien) war bereits in früher Kindheit aufgrund ihrer jüdischen Abstammung gezwungen als Opfer des nationalsozialistischen Regimes aus ihrer Heimat Wien zu flüchten. Aus Angst vor den Nazis floh sie mit ihrer Familie ins Exil – zuerst in die Schweiz, dann nach London und schließlich in die USA. Zeitlebens war sie durch die Flucht traumatisiert. Für den Jubiläumsband, welcher Soshana als Opfer des nationalsozialistischen Regimes gedenkt und gewidmet ist, werden neben den transkribierten Tagebuchtexten auch ausgewählte Scans originaler Tagebuchpassagen mit Soshanas zeitgleichen Papierarbeiten, Gemälden, Skizzen oder Fotos gegenübergestellt. Für den Band konnte die Direktorin Dr. Johanna Rachinger und die Kunsthistorikerin Dr. Angelica Bäumer gewonnen werden. Die Tagebücher sollen am 13. September 2017 in der Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek präsentiert werden.
