For 24 years, the Austrian Contemporary History Day has been a renowned forum for the exchange of information between contemporary historians from Austria and abroad. In 2018, it will be hosted by the Institute of Contemporary History at the University of Vienna on the occasion of its 25th anniversary and will take place from 5 to 7 April 2018 on the premises of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Studies at Währingerstraße 29. In the course of the event, we expect, in accordance with the last years, almost 200 speakers, 30 moderators, a professional audience from Austria and abroad, numerous students of the University of Vienna, an interested public and a lot of media coverage of events and discussion panels. On the occasion of important historical anniversaries, especially with regard to the events in Austria in 1938, there is expected to be a great deal of interest, as commemorative projects throughout Austria will also be presented and discussed during the conference. The most important focus will be the 80th anniversary of Austria's annexation to the German Reich.

Der Österreichische Zeitgeschichtstag ist seit 24 Jahren ein renommiertes Forum für den inhaltlichen Austausch von ZeithistorikerInnen aus dem In- und Ausland. Im Jahr 2018 wird er zum 25-Jahr-Jubiläum vom Institut für Zeitgeschichte an der Universität Wien ausgerichtet und vom 05. bis 07. April 2018 in den Räumlichkeiten des Instituts für Publizistik und Kommunikationswissenschaft in der Währingerstraße 29 stattfinden. Im Zuge dessen erwarten wir entsprechend der letzten Jahre knapp 200 ReferentInnen, 30 ModeratorInnen, ein Fachpublikum aus dem In- und Ausland, zahlreiche Studierende der Universiät Wien, eine interessierte Öffentlichkeit und viel mediale Berichterstattung über Veranstaltungen und Diskussionspanels. Aus Anlass wichtiger historischer Jahrestage, insbesondere in Hinblick auf die Geschehnisse in Österreich 1938, wird vom starken Interesse ausgegangen, da österreichweit Gedenk- und Erinnerungsprojekte im Zuge der Tagung ebenfalls präsentiert und zur Diskussion gestellt werden sollen. Der wichtigste Schwerpunkt wird das 80-jährige Jubiläum des Anschluss Österreichs an das Deutsche Reich sein.
