Description

Erich Wolfgang Korngold, born on 29 May 1897 in Brno was celebrated as a child genius and many conductors such as Bruno Walter and Wilhelm Furtwängler were keen to be the first to premiere his work. After the “Anschluss” of Austrian in 1938, Korngold was unable to return to Austria from his trip to America due to his Jewish origins and remained in Hollywood as a film score composer. His attempt to return to the European stage with his style after 1945 was unsuccessful. Erich Wolfgang Korngold died in Los Angeles on 29 November 1957.

in German:
November 1957 in Los Angeles.
