The commemorative landscape of Burgenland barely reflects the much-cited diversity of the federal province. In most communities, places of remembrance of murdered Roma and Romnja are sought in vain. In Jabing in the Oberwart district of southern Burgenland, too, there has been hardly any discussion to date of the fact that about one tenth of the local population is "missing". The personal relationship of the author Jakob Frühmann to his home municipality and the fact that former fellow citizens and the memory of them threatened to be forgotten were the reason for him to devote himself to this topic in the planned publication and to undertake a search for traces. Conversations with recent witnesses from Jabing who can recall personal encounters with Roma and Romnja point to distinct memories of the time during the war. Stefan Horvath's short prose and poetry allows us to reflect on the experiences of those who were in Auschwitz and find a context to Jabing: his mother Maria Horvath was deported from there in 1939. Stefan Horvath remembers his mother and thus gives a face to a Jabing Romni in literary form. The presentation of the publication is planned in many places.

Die burgenländische Gedenklandschaft spiegelt die gern zitierte Vielfalt des Bundeslandes kaum wider. In den meisten Gemeinden werden Erinnerunsorte an ermordete Roma und Romnja vergeblich gesucht. Auch im südburgenländischen Jabing im Bezirk Oberwart hat es bis dato kaum eine Auseinandersetzung mit dem Faktum gegeben, dass etwa ein Zehntel der Ortsbevölkerung „fehlt“. Der persönliche Bezug des Verfassers Jakob Frühmann zu seiner Heimatgemeinde und der Umstand, dass ehemalige MitbürgerInnen und die Erinnerung an diese in Vergessenheit zu geraten drohten, waren für ihn der Anlass, sich in der geplanten Publikation diesem Thema zu widmen und eine Spurensuche zu unternehmen. Gespräche mit letzten ZeitzeugInnen aus Jabing, die sich an persönliche Begegnungen mit Roma und Romnja erinnern können, weisen auf ausgeprägte Erinnerungen an die Zeit während des Krieges hin. Anhand der Kurzprosa und Lyrik von Stefan Horvath kann über die Erfahrung jener, die in Auschwitz waren, reflektiert werden und ein Kontext zu Jabing gefunden werden: seine Mutter Maria Horvath wurde 1939 von dort deportiert. Stefan Horvath erinnert sich an seine Mutter und gibt so einer Jabinger Romni in literarischer Form ein Gesicht. Präsentation der Publikation ist an vielen Orten geplant.
