The starting point of the artistic work "Ort der Unruhe" (Place of Unrest) is the events of the May days 1945, when the SS had buried executees in the grounds of the SS barracks in Graz-Wetzelsdorf. This process, which was supposed to go unnoticed as far as was possible under time pressure, was not carried out completely, as we know today. This fact is the basis of indications and rumors that there are still graves on the area of the barracks. Ernst Logar, who in 2004 in his work "Den Blick hinrichten" (Executing the gaze) already dealt intensively with the Nazi crime at Feliferhof and the Belgierkaserne (former SS barracks Graz Wetzelsdorf), deals in this work with the new memorial, the memorial grove, on the area of today's Belgierkaserne. The book project will make a contribution to the examination of a contemporary concept of memorial and the handling of a historical place of remembrance. It is planned to cooperate with the Drava Verlag and to present the book at the Graz Museum in cooperation with the Association for History and Education CLIO in September 2018.

Der Ausgangspunkt der künstlerischen Arbeit „Ort der Unruhe“ sind die Ereignisse der Maitage 1945. Damals ließ die SS verscharrte Hingerichtete aus dem Gelände der SS-Kaserne Graz-Wetzelsdorf ausgraben. Dieser Vorgang, der unter Zeitdruck möglichst unbemerkt stattfinden sollte, wurde, wie man heute weiß, nicht vollständig durchgeführt. Dieser Sachverhalt ist die Grundlage von Hinweisen und Gerüchten, dass sich nach wie vor Gräber auf dem Areal der Kaserne befänden. Ernst Logar, der sich schon 2004 in seiner Arbeit „Den Blick hinrichten“ intensiv mit dem NS-Verbrechen am Feliferhof und der Belgierkaserne (ehemalige SS-Kaserne Graz Wetzelsdorf) auseinandersetzte, beschäftigt sich in dieser Arbeit mit dem neuen Denkmal, dem Gedächtnishain, am Areal der heutigen Belgierkaserne. Das Buchprojekt wird einen Beitrag zur Auseinandersetzung mit einem zeitgemäßen Mahnmalbegriff und dem Umgang mit einem historischen Erinnerungsort leisten. Geplant ist die Zusammenarbeit mit dem Drava Verlag und eine Buchpräsentation im Graz Museum in Kooperation mit dem Verein für Geschichts- und Bildungsarbeit CLIO im September 2018.
