Project

Description

On November 8, 2018, the association will organize a commemoration ceremony in coordination with the Vienna 15th District Authority on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the November pogroms. At the same time the area of the Turnertemple will be named after Moshe Jahoda. Two places, three themes to be worked on: The anniversary: 80 years of the November pogroms, the naming: Moshe Jahoda Square at the site of the Turner Temple and the commemorative work: Remembrance Culture 2018. The focus is on the victims, the survivors, the contemporary witnesses and Moshe Jahoda. The discussants and listeners are again surrounded by the portraits and voices of the contemporary witnesses, the discussion round itself refers to the current situation of the present and to the expectations for the future. On the occasion of the naming of the square after Moshe Jahoda, a brochure will be designed with a biographical overview of the life and work of Moshe Jahoda, in which companions and friends will also have their say. The brochure will be distributed on the day of the event, will be available at Herklotzgasse 21 as well as at the district administration and will be distributed to all households directly adjacent to the Place of Remembrance. W24 - Wiener Stadtfernsehen will document the evening and will report on it on TV.
