Knowledge about people - women, men and children who were persecuted as "asocial" by the Nazis - is still limited despite research. This publication traces the fates of 176 Austrian women stigmatized as “asocial” who were imprisoned in the women's concentration camp Ravensbrück and the youth concentration camp Uckermark. In the analysis of these individual persecutions, the focus is, among other things, on the actions of the authorities and institutions involved and thus on the structures of “asocial” persecution in Austria, with a special focus on the Niederdonau and Vienna districts. The analysis of the structures of “asocial” persecution is embedded in a sketch of the traditional lines of the state's dealings with people who were deemed “asocial”, which ultimately led to the Nazi radicalization of exclusion. With a view to post-war Austria's handling of people persecuted as “asocial”, continuity in the marginalization and discrimination in the post-war period will be analyzed on the basis of compensation policy and court proceedings.

Das Wissen über Menschen – Frauen, Männer und Kinder, die von den Nationalsozialisten als „Asoziale“ verfolgt wurden – ist trotz einiger Forschungsarbeiten nach wie vor gering. Die Publikation geht den Schicksalen von als „asozial“ stigmatisierten 176 Österreicherinnen nach, die im Frauenkonzentrationslager Ravensbrück und im Jugendkonzentrationslager Uckermark inhaftiert waren. In der Analyse dieser individuellen Verfolgungsläufe liegt das Augenmerk unter anderem auf dem Handeln involvierter Behörden und Einrichtungen und damit auf den Strukturen der „Asozialen“-Verfolgung in Österreich, mit besonderem Fokus auf die Gaue Niederdonau und Wien. Eingebettet ist die Analyse der Strukturen der „Asozialen“-Verfolgung in eine Skizzierung der Traditionslinien des staatlichen Umgangs mit Menschen, die als „Asoziale“ konstruiert wurden, die schließlich zur nationalsozialistischen Radikalisierung der Ausgrenzung führten. Mit dem Blick auf den Umgang Nachkriegsösterreichs mit als „asozial“ Verfolgten werden anhand von Entschädigungspolitik und Gerichtsverfahren Kontinuitäten in der Marginalisierung und Diskriminierung in der Nachkriegszeit analysiert.
