Project

Description

In 1944, in the Salzburg market town Thalgau, the "Gerichtspark" was purchased by the National Socialists in order to erect a so called “heroes grove”. To mark 70 years since the “Anschluss”, the Salzburg Educational Center Thalgau erected a memorial for the victims of National Socialism. Five marble tiles leading to the memorial bear the names of the victims of euthanasia from Thalgau who died in Hartheim, in such a way that in order to read their names, you must bow your head to the victims. The memorial was opened by the President of the Austrian Union of Municipalities on Sunday 18 May.
