Project

Description

The project was initiated by the two artists, Mrs. Ruth Patzelt (musician, photographer) and Mrs. DI Barbara Horvath (architect, photo and film artist). In the week from 04.11. to 11.11.2018, various events and actions were held to commemorate the former Jewish neighbours and fellow human beings. This was followed by the inauguration of the restored and extended memorial on the main square for the Lockenhaus victims of the Shoa. The memorial, which was erected in 2008, is the place of remembrance for those whose fate meant death. At that time the names of 11 deported fellow citizens were recorded. According to what is known at present, two names have been added, two family members from the Blum family, namely Regina and Berta Stössel. Graphic work was to be done, stonemasonry and transport. The stone is Rechnitzer green slate, a material from the immediate vicinity of Lockenhaus. A documentation in the form of a booklet was sent to all households in Lockenhaus thanks to the support of the community. With texts, photographs, a family book of the Stössel family, drawings and much more. It is currently being considered whether to publish this in boook form.
