Project

Description

On the occasion of the International Day of the Roma on 8 April 2019, a panel discussion in the Great Broadcast Hall of the ORF Radio Kulturhaus will discuss the current situation of the Roma, the role of the Roma civil movement and current demands, such as recognition of the social and cultural contribution of the Roma for Europe or the fight against anti-Gypsyism. The panel discussion will take place free of charge in order to enable as many interested people as possible to participate. Guests from politics and civil society will be specifically invited, all associations of the Roma community are invited as cooperating partners to get involved in advance and of course press work is an essential part of the organisation. The concert following the event will provide a festive finale. Many invited guests are expected, as well as all Roma associations, politicians, opinion leaders and the panelists. For the concert, the Roma guitarist Harri Stojka and his ensemble will put together a special programme from the rich fund of Roma music.
