The Mauthausen Committee Steyr was founded in 1988. The Committee’s aim was to research the Jewish history of Steyr with the project “Remembrance: Jewish Steyr” and to erect memorials for Jewish victims. During recent years, a great deal of research has been carried out, leading to the erection of memorial plaques. The last sub-project was the erection of a glass memorial plaque within the Jewish cemetery which bears all the names of the Holocaust victims from Steyr. Directly in front of the glass plaque a stone table was erected (200cm x 50cm x 50cm), enabling the participants of the annual commemoration ceremony to lay stones of remembrance.

1988 wurde das Mauthausen Komitee Steyr gegründet. Das Komitee setzte sich mit dem Projekt 'Erinnerung: Jüdisches Steyr' die Erforschung der jüdischen Geschichte von Steyr und die Errichtung von Gedenkstätten für die jüdischen Opfer zum Ziel. Während der letzten Jahre wurden mehrere Recherchen durchgeführt und anschließend Gedenktafeln errichtet. Letztes Teilprojekt soll die Errichtung einer Gedenktafel aus Glas im Inneren des jüdischen Friedhofes sein, die alle Namen der Steyrer Holocaust-Opfer enthält. Direkt vor der Glasplatte soll ein Steintisch (200cm x 50 cm x 50 cm) den Teilnehmern der jährlichen Gedenkfeier die Möglichkeit geben, Steine des Gedenkens, Steine der Erinnerung niederzulegen.
