Dauerausstellung – 'Bei uns war ein wirklich jüdisches Leben' Die Kultusgemeinde St. Pölten und ihre Vernichtung

 

Under the scientific direction of Dr. Christoph Lind and Dr. Eleonore Lappin, various subject areas such as the synagogue, rabbis and cantors, daily life and political involvement of the community members were presented: the beginning of the National Socialist era and the consequences of persecution, seizure, flight and emigration, survival as a “U-boot” or in a mixed marriage, survival in camps, Hungarian Jewish slave laborers, the Viehofen camp and the return and restitution were dealt with in 16 displays. Each subject was presented with a significant quotation from a life story or an interview, brief historical information and several original photos.

Unter der wissenschaftlichen Leitung von Dr. Christoph Lind und Dr. Eleonore Lappin werden verschiedenen Themenbereiche wie die der Synagoge, Rabbiner und Kantoren, als auch Alltagsleben und politisches Engagement der Gemeindemitglieder präsentiert: Beginn der NS-Zeit mit den Folgen der Verfolgung, Enteignung, Flucht und Emigration, sowie Überleben als U-Boot oder in Mischehe, Überleben im Lager aber auch Ungarisch-jüdische ZwangsarbeiterInnen, das Lager Viehofen sowie die Rückkehr und die Restitution sollen auf 16 Stellwänden thematisiert werden. Jedes Thema wird durch ein signifikantes Zitat aus einer Lebenserinnerung oder einem Interview, einer kurzen historischen Information und mehreren Originalfotos dargestellt.
