Until 1938, Jewish and Christian small business owners and workers lived together harmoniously in the building at Glockengasse 29. In March 1938, the neighbors became persecutors and persecutes. Vilma Neuwirth survived the horror and the terror of National Socialist rule in the building in Glockengasse as a so called star-wearer, not least through the courage of her “aryan” mother. In her recollections, she vividly describes the daily changes under the new rulers, youthful imprudence and dramatic separations between 1938 and 1945.

Im Haus Glockengasse Nr. 29 lebten bis 1938 jüdische und christliche Kleingewerbetreibende und Arbeiter friedlich miteinander. Im März 1938 wurden aus Nachbarn Verfolger und Verfolgte. Vilma Neuwirth überlebte die Schrecken und den Terror der NS-Herrschaft als Sternträgerin in der Wiener Glockengasse, nicht zuletzt durch den Mut ihrer Mutter. Sie erzählt in ihren Erinnerungen eindringlich von den tagtäglichen Veränderungen unter den neuen Machthabern, von der antisemitischen Hetze der Nachbarn, von jugendlichem Leichtsinn und dramatischen Trennungen in den Jahren 1938 bis 1945
