Description

The documentary “Katharina Sasso, Resistance Fighter and the Group 40“ documents the political fight of Katharina Sasso and her family in a resistance group against the Nazi terror in Austria. The film shows Katharina Sasso as a young resistance fighter, her arrest and torture by the Gestapo and the conditions in the police prison Vienna and the Vienna Provincial Court. The charge and sentence for high treason by the Nazi legal system can be seen. The film portrays the fates suffered by Katharina Sasso and her comrades murdered by the Nazis at the Provincial Court I, her imprisonment in the Ravensbrück concentration camp and the circumstances surrounding the liberation by the Red Army. Her return to Austria is a disappointment to Katharina Sasso, as the perpetrators are not prosecuted. In the last part of the film “Katharina Sasso, Resistance Fighter and the Group 40“, the confrontation with the former Nazi collaborators and the struggle for the maintenance of the graves and the erection of a memorial for the “Group 40” by Katharina Sasso are shown.
