In the Year of Remembrance 2008, on 14 November 2008 the Federal Youth Representation, as a body representing the interests of children and young people, and the presidium of the National Council, held a workshop “Children and young people in National Socialism”. It was dedicated to the little-researched history of children and young people under National Socialism from the perspective of victims, people involved and resistance. The workshop dealt with the material seriously and scientifically. The multidimensional perspective served to find links to today in order to develop strategies for dealing with present social dangers such as racism, xenophobia and diverse forms of discrimination.

Im Gedenkjahr 2008 veranstaltet die Bundesjugendvertretung als Interessenvertretung der Kinder und Jugendlichen in Österreich gemeinsam mit dem Präsidium des Nationalrats am 14. November 2008 die Enquete "Kinder und Jugendliche im Nationalsozialismus". Diese widmet sich aus der Opfer-, Involvierten- und Widerstandsperspektive der bislang wenig erforschten Geschichte von Kindern und Jugendlichen im Nationalsozialismus. Die Enquete bietet eine ernsthafte und seriöse wissenschaftliche Auseinandersetzung mit der Materie. Die multidimensionale Sichtweise dient dazu, Anknüpfungspunkte ins Heute zu finden und somit Handlungsanleitungen und Strategien für den Umgang mit gegenwärtigen gesellschaftlichen Gefahren wie Rassismus, AusländerInnenfeindlichkeit und vielfältigen Formen von Diskriminierungen zu entwickeln.
