Project

Description

The annual cantoral concert in the Viennese city temple has already become a tradition. Once a year, usually in the autumn, cantors from abroad are invited to join with Chief Cantor Shmuel Barzilai in order to introduce the art of chasanut (cantoral singing) to the Viennese public in the traditional Vienna City Temple. The cantor's concert gives Jews and non-Jews the opportunity to get to know the traditional prayers, old Jewish songs, religious sages from the Stetl and the timeless melodies of the prayers in a very authentic way. The aim is to make Judaism and its culture accessible to the public, but above all to commemorate the destroyed world of yesterday.
